Tis the Season!
Short-term team season that is!
December is a busy time at Ciyanjano because so many churches run camps while schools are out on their long holiday break. We've got two large children's camps, an AWANA leadership training, a gospel-based healthcare worker conference, and a Veritas College pastors' training, just to name a few! But between now and the end of the year we have even more going on than our usual camps.
We will soon be hosting a team of Americans who are coming to do HIV/AIDS training in partnership with ACTION Zambia's CROSS Project. We will have three day-long conferences here that will surely bless the church and challenge and empower Christians to serve those living with HIV. Please pray that these conferences have a great turnout and that people will be blessed and inspired by the teaching.
Ciyanjano is also sponsoring another Christmas party this year. We'll be inviting children from a nearby orphanage as well as from a local community school to come out for teaching, music, crafts, lunch, and of course a lot of time to play. These are new groups we've not worked with before. Please pray that children will hear the gospel of Jesus Christ and trust him as their Savior, Redeemer, and closest friend.
ACTION Zambia is also having a team retreat of our own with guest speakers, John and Georgie Reed. John and Georgie will be ministering to all of us and helping us refresh and prepare for the year ahead. And, our American team that I previously mentioned will also be with us, running a fun program for our own children while we are enjoying our own sessions. Please pray that this will truly be an encouraging time for our team where God really teaches us and challenges us in new ways.
On top of all that, we, the Huckabys, are hosting a Christmas dinner at our house this year. I can't think of a better way to build memories in this new home of ours than celebrating of our Lord's birth. Thank you, Father, for the birth, ministry, death, and resurrection of your Son Jesus, and for his ongoing ministry in the world through the Church!!! Please pray for our family this season to enjoy the love of our Father and celebrate the coming of Christ for our sake. And please pray that we will find ways to express our faith through a generous outpouring to others.
