Movie Recommendation
Yesterday we watched a movie on Netflix: The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind
We enjoyed this movie so much and really wanted to recommend it. The movie is based on a true story that took place in Malawi, which is Zambia's next-door neighbor and very similar in SO many ways. So, if you haven't yet visited us in Zambia watching this movie will give you a little glimpse into a lot of different aspects of our life. We are less "out in the bush" than the village depicted in the film, but not by much. One of the super fun things about The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind is that the people speak Chichewa, which is one of the local languages commonly spoken in Lusaka. Your ears will really feast on the language often used around Ciyanjano and around Lusaka.
We found ourselves seeing TIA or "This is Africa" moments that really struck us as informative and interesting. Keep your eyes out for the ways religion is practiced. The father's conversion to Christianity isn't mentioned in the movie, so if you are interested in more details about that, it's in the book. The movie is rated 16+ on Netflix, but our 10-year-old watched it with us and we didn't see any problems with that.
Enjoy!
