One Day at a Time

Hello, dear Friends!

Here we Huckabys are in Lusaka, Zambia, in the midst of another Covid outbreak.  We haven't seen any cases of this variant ourselves, but the government has issued new regulations again.  What does that mean for us and this ministry?

Well... we are just taking things one day at a time and trying to be mentally and spiritually ready for anything.  As Christians, we are supposed to be ready to share the reason for the hope that we have in Jesus - in season and out of season - whatever season.  This year we have tried to take advantage of any ministry opportunities while at the same time respecting the wishes of the government and our neighbors.  We will finish out this year in that same way.

Thankfully, we are able to do so much ministry outside.  Our group of youths, the Champs, that Kelly has been discipling, finished their program with only a bit of a delay and were able to graduate.

Tricia's Bible study for teen girls is stable at around 16 girls and they have continued to meet outside.  Here they are on our back verandah after our study on Saturday.  Please pray for these girls to know Jesus more and more!

We've also been able to maintain our Reading Room at Ciyanjano for study time.  Feeding programs have continued and are still a much-needed blessing to many children in our area.  The chigayo (maize mill) has continued to run and is a blessing to our community as well as our public water tap.  Camp Ciyanjano has been able to host a few groups and camps, and we are thankful for that.  A few of our Champs spearheaded a youth camp just recently and it was well done.

Our ACTION Pastors' College finished their first year of training.  Pray for these ministers of God's word.

Kelly and I haven't been meeting often with the married couples group, but we were able to meet recently for a meal and training about the 5 Love Languages.  We all enjoyed ourselves and learned a lot.

All in all we are quite thankful that even though our lives haven't been "business as usual,"  we have stayed busy and we've tried to see what God is doing and follow along.  He is so good and so faithful.

We would ask for your prayers for these ministries and our family.  In particular, we need your prayers for a good rainy season this year.  We've had extremely hot days and though we had some good rains at first, they've seemed to disappear and it's causing the farmers to worry about food for this coming year.  Thank you so much for your love and care for us and for Zambia!
