Huckaby Home Assignment Update!

Praise God!  It’s time for a comprehensive Huckaby update!  Our God is so good.

TEXAS

Many of you know that we arrived safely and bedraggled in Texas the first week of April.  We were looking forward to quality time with Kelly’s parents and brother and sister-in-law, as well as relatives and many long-time friends - and it has been so wonderful.  Other highlights include Tricia going on an encouraging ladies retreat, celebrating Easter together, sharing at New Fellowship Church, attending a First Aid course with the kids, attending a beautiful memorial service for a missionary/pastor friend - Mike Howard, and a super-duper family trip to the beach!!!!

We are just so incredibly thankful to the Lord and everyone here who helped so much to make our stay so awesome, especially Kelly’s family and Alto Frio Baptist Encampment.  Thank you all!!!! 

If you are interested in connecting with us before we leave Texas, we will be presenting tomorrow Sunday at Grace Community Fellowship in Sabinal at 10:30 and again at New Fellowship Church in Leakey on Thursday evening at 6:00.

We are planning to be in Yakima the week after 4th of July.  We plan to be in California to visit West Hills Church at the end of August and we will be at our sister camp, Koinonia Conference Grounds, for family camp during Labor Day weekend.  We fly back to Zambia on September 10th.

MINISTRY NEEDS

If you are interested in the ministries of ACTION Zambia (AZ), giving toward them or praying for them, please read on. If not, you can skip down to our Family Needs section.  Despite Covid ministry has continued and we have a wide range of needs and fundraising goals.  Please look them over and prayerfully consider if/how you can help with the following goals:

• Ciyanjano Champions for Children is one of our favourite programs and is going on now with a new group of youths being discipled - we call them the Champs.  Our goal is to raise $5000 to cover costs for the next 3 years.
• Outreaches - AZ performs all kinds of gospel outreach in urban and rural areas.
• Camping Ministry - We love to hold follow-up camps after doing different kinds of outreach.  Our goal is to raise $3000 to help cover our camping costs.
• Feeding Programs are an important ministry in Zambia and we love providing meals for children because malnutrition is a huge problem. Our goal is to raise $6000 or more for our current feeding programs.
• Ciyanjano Camp - This beautiful camping and conference centre is such a vital ministry for the churches in the slums.  Due to Covid and less funds, we have a lot of maintenance and freshening up that needs to happen on the property.  Consider helping us reach our fundraising goal of $20,000 for Ciyanjano’s general fund for the next 3 years.
• ACTION Pastors College (APC) - Training for pastors in Lusaka and beyond is another ministry that is close to our hearts and so important.  Our current class is going strong.  We would love to add 5 more monthly donors of $50 each for this ministry, committing for the next 3 years. 
• Reading Room - Our team has seen over and over again how our reading and study room at Ciyanjano has been such a blessing to students, teachers, and pastors.  Help us keep this little treasure stocked up and staffed!  We’re praying for $2000 for this project.
• MINISTRY MATERIALS - If you are interested in making a physical donation of some kind, we are collecting new Christian t-shirts as gifts for our team and their families, and new or very gently used BIBLES (NIV, ESV, NLT primarily).  Also, we are looking for 10 gently used copies of the book Purpose-Driven Life and 12 gently used copies of the 5 Love Languages.

HUCKABY FAMILY NEEDS

God has always taken such good care of our family.  Many of you have given generously to important projects over the years like our vehicles, solar power, etc.  Also, many of you have faithfully given monthly to cover our monthly budget for food, medical, diesel, internet, etc.  We want to praise Jesus for all of you and say THANK YOU SO MUCH.  We know it’s not easy.  We always praise God for you.  Thank you for your generosity, your love, and your faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.  The following are upcoming personal needs for our family.

• We have recently purchased home-schooling materials for Emmanuel, Mark, and Joy to continue school at home with Tricia for 2023 and 2024.  We have been praying about sending Ethel and Lucas to a specific weekly boarding school just outside of Lusaka for grades 10, 11, and 12 beginning in 2023 so that they can graduate with the British school system.  The Lord has been confirming that this would be a healthy choice.  We are selling a little piece of property that we purchased years ago to secure $10,000 per year for 3 years to contribute to the costs of the school, but that only covers a third of the total.  We need to raise $18,000 more per year for 3 years.
• At our house we eat a lot of eggs and have always kept layers.  We’d like to raise $1000 for a new, larger chicken coop and 20 fresh layers.
• You all know that prices are rising around the world for food supplies and fuel.  If you are a regular monthly donor, would you consider raising your monthly donation by $10 a month?  Or if you have never given before, would you consider signing on as a monthly donor for $10 per month to help us with rising costs?
