Powerful Training Experience!!
Some of you that are State-side might remember that we were talking a lot about a Children's Ministry Training that we were excited about. Well, the Lord did more than we could have asked or imagined! Last week we offered 4 days of absolutely excellent training by Sheryl Grunwald from ACTION Canada on ministering to children. The Lord used Sheryl to really bless an interesting mix of pastors and church leaders and youths. It was just an awesome time! Thank you so much for those of you that donated funds toward this training and to all of you who prayed! I've included some comments from participants at the bottom. (I bet you can't find me (Tricia) in the group picture!)
Testimony: I thank God for the opportunity I had to attend the 1for50 training. It was a life-changing experience that has greatly impacted my understanding of ministry, especially in reaching children with the gospel.
Before attending the training, I had a desire to serve, but I lacked practical knowledge and clear direction. During the training, I was equipped with biblical principles and effective methods of teaching children. I learned how important it is to present the gospel in a simple, clear, and engaging way that children can understand. One of the greatest benefits I received was gaining confidence in ministering to children. The training helped me understand that children are not too young to receive Christ, and that they are an important part of God’s kingdom. I also learned how to prepare lessons, use illustrations, and organize children’s programs effectively.
Additionally, the training deepened my burden for evangelism. I now see children’s ministry not just as teaching, but as a mission field where souls can be won for Christ. It has encouraged me to be intentional and faithful in reaching out. I am grateful for the knowledge, skills, and spiritual growth I received through the 1for50 training. I am committed to applying what I have learned for the glory of God and for the salvation of many children.
Testimony 2: Firstly, I would like to thank God, and also thank Cheryl and the entire team for taking the time to teach us. I am also grateful to those who funded and sponsored this conference and made it possible for us to learn. May the Lord richly bless you all.
Before attending this conference, I had a passion for children, but I had never received any formal training in children's ministry. I only came from theological college with training to be a pastor. During my internship, I was given opportunities to serve in a school, lead Bible clubs, and teach Sunday school. I was doing all this out of love and passion for children, but without proper skills or direction.
Through the 1for50 conference, the Lord has given me a clearer understanding and practical tools for ministering to children. I learned how to communicate the gospel in a simple and understandable way. I learned that children are precious to Jesus, and His words, "Let the little children come to me," remind us that children matter greatly to Him. Therefore, they should matter greatly to us as well. One of the things that impacted me the most was learning how to listen well to children, especially those who are broken, neglected, traumatized, or have lost their parents. I learned that children need not only to be taught, but also to be heard, loved, and cared for with the compassion of Christ.
I was also challenged to think about the importance of reaching every child. If we neglect one child, we are neglecting the community around us. That child may grow up without hope and become a danger to society. But when children are reached with the gospel and discipled well, they can grow up to live for the glory of God and become a blessing to others.
Another great blessing was learning practical ways to teach children. I learned new games, new ways of helping children memorize Scripture, and creative methods of presenting the gospel. In fact, immediately after the conference, during our Monday devotion with the children, I used the colours from the gospel booklet to explain the message of salvation. I was amazed at how easily the children understood.
This conference has made me more productive and more confident in serving children. It has given me direction and encouraged me to continue investing in the next generation for the glory of God.
