October Update Pt 4 (APC Pastor's Retreat)

What a great way to spend a weekend at Ciyanjano with our ACTION Pastors College pastors. Next month they'll be graduating from APC after three long years of hard work and dedication. So while Pete was here we held a retreat for them full of excellent teaching, good food, times of worship and praise, laughter and fun. I got to put my Little Cheerful Cafe skills to use by cooking and serving breakfast, planning meals, buying groceries and overseeing our new kitchen staff. Pray for these pastors as they graduate next month. Pray that God would bless their ministries and families.

They had a pretty hard time doing but still had a great time!

Also fun to see these guys wearing shorts!

October Update Pt 3 (APC Alumni Visits!)

One of THE COOLEST things we get to do is visit the 2011 graduates of ACTION Pastors College. The hardest part, especially considering our schedule, is choosing who to visit! This time we were able to visit pastor Bruce Kaumba in Kanyama compound and Patson Sakala in Ngombe compound. Pray for these pastors as they preach the Word and serve children for the sake of the Gospel and the name of Jesus! See the captions for details:

October Update Pt 2 (Mwanza Wedding)

We had such a great time celebrating the wedding of Enock, one of guys here at Ciyanjano. It was a joy to be invited to the church service and to have Pete give a benediction at the end. I had the pleasure of picking up the bridal party with all the kids and bridesmaids and groomsmen and taking them to the packed church. Never mind the serious faces, it's a tradition.

October Update Pt 1 (Pastor Pete, Bible Club, Baptisms!)

So on the 2nd of October our pastor Pete from our sending church in Bellingham, WA arrived on a late night flight into KK International. Pete had a packed schedule with teaching at our ACTION Pastors College, visiting other AZ ministries and preparing for our pastors' retreat at Ciyanjano. So we got to work right away; we spent some time shopping in Kamwala buying some gifts for our supporters and bunch of stuff for a local orphanage and also buying stuff we needed for Ciyanjano Bible Club that night. At the end of the first full day here, we had him lead the message at Bible Club on the meaning, purpose and reasons for baptism for believers in Jesus. We had Jailos Sakala do the translating to be sure that the message was clear. And then the best part was that with our pastor's blessing and with all the kids from Bible Club watching, I had the honor and privilege of getting to baptize Ethel, Lucas, and Joy. They'd been asking to be baptized for more than a year and we were really waiting until we were sure they understood the meaning of their decision and give them a chance to show their profession of faith with all their friends watching. It was a such joy and we're praying that other kids at Bible Club that have professed faith in Christ will also want to be baptized!
