BibleClub V2.0 (Church-Based Bible Clubs)

This year we made a really difficult decision about Ciyanjano Bible Club. The Ciyanjano clubs had grown to almost 250 kids spread over three nights a week. Between paying our leaders and cooks and the ever increasing cost of transportation and food, we discovered that we were spending more every month than we were receiving in donations. We looked ahead to the future day when we would run out of money. Around the same time we lost many of our leaders and I took over as the Country Director.

After talking and praying about it with Tricia we decided we would close Ciyanjano Bible Club at the end of the school year and pray about what it would look like to reopen in the future. Of course after 6 years of doing Bible clubs we knew and loved the kids so much. At the same time, our Bible clubs were not really operating inside of ACTION Zambia's mission statement - which is to empower and train local churches to do the work of the local church... and while our Bible clubs were awesome, we weren't helping kids get involved in local churches and we weren't helping churches build there own clubs so much.

Recently we started re-opening Bible clubs, starting with a local church with all volunteer leaders and cooks and we provide food and materials. Pray with us as we hope to train and encourage and help churches around Ciyanjano to run their own clubs if we provide food and teaching material and training for the leaders!

This has proved to be an encouraging transition. Check out the photos from the Bible club we opened at the church next door to Ciyanjano where many of our staff attend and many of the original Bible club kids came from. We still need partners to help us pay for printing and for food, so click here to donate now!

The kids are the cutest.
